Selecting an Adoption Attorney

Read below to find out if you need an adoption attorney and where to find an attorney in your area that specializes in adoption.

Selecting an Attorney

You have the right to select an attorney in all adoption proceedings.

If you have decided to work with a licensed adoption agency, you do not need to worry about obtaining an attorney since the agency will help you make sure all the legal issues are taken care of.

If you are proceeding with a private adoption, then you should always obtain your own attorney and to make sure your attorney is not the same attorney that is working for the adopting family.

Most attorneys are specialized in one or more areas, and in the area of adoption you certainly should want to have an attorney who specializes in adoption.  There is an organization consisting of these attorneys who specialize in adoption and you would be smart to contact one of these attorneys. Click the link above for more information.

Additional Information and Resources

Pregnant women and birth mothers who need financial, medical, nutritional, health or other types of help such as support groups please click this link.

If you need additional information or assistance, please feel free to contact Adoption Services, a fully licensed non-profit adoption agency that can help a birth mother or birth father living in any one of the 50 U.S. states or even living abroad.  The services provided are always free and without obligation to a birth parent regardless of whether you are placing a child for adoption or are looking for information to help you raise your baby. If you are one of the many birth parents who work with our Agency in placing your child for adoption, we make sure that your baby is placed with the perfect family, that all of your medical and legal expenses are paid for and, depending on the laws of your state of residence, that you are able to receive legally allowable reimbursement for housing, lost wages, and living expenses.
